On September 3, 2024, China Energy Engineering Corporation's Shanxi Institute's general contracting project, China's first grid-side flywheel energy storage frequency regulation power station—the Dinglun Energy 30 MW flywheel energy storage project—successfully grid-connected and generated electricity. The project consists of a 30 MW flywheel energy storage frequency regulation power station and its supporting facilities, which are composed of 12 sets of flywheel energy storage frequency regulation units. Each unit contains 10 high-speed magnetically levitated flywheels, related auxiliary, drive and control systems, and a step-up converter integrated prefabricated cabin. Flywheel energy storage technology has significant advantages such as fast continuous charging and discharging, precise power regulation, low lifecycle cost, no pollution, and reliable equipment safety.
